Shigeru Miyamoto recently spoke to IGN.com where he was asked what Nintendo franchises he would like to see on Wii U. Though he didn’t go into detail, he said that personally he would want to see a Starfox game on Wii U the most. He also mentioned how well the Metroid series could work on Wii U, especially due to the possibilities provided by the GamePad.
“With Metroid it’s very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U. I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that.”
“I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic. There’s certainly a lot that you could do there for that game.”
Miyamoto’s comments on GamePad implementation seem to suggest that a first person shooter set up similar to Metroid Prime would work best, and I would have to agree.
Beyond these comments there has been no word from Nintendo on whether either Starfox or Metroid games are in development for Wii U.
